Pulau Aur

Pulau Aur is an outer Island of the East Coast Peninsula, which is approximately 35 nautical miles from Tanjong. Leman.  There are a few shop outlets at the Tanjong. Leman jetty selling beverages, snacks, souvenirs & dried seafood products in the day time.  Leaving Tanjong Leman toward Pulau Aur, heading 60 degree you will be passing Pulau Sibu, Pulau Tinggi and Pulau Lima along the journey.  A normal boat journey takes about 3-31/2 hrs to reach the Island.

3 other islands, namely Dayang, Lang & Pinang, surround Pulau Aur. Pulau Aur  is the second most popular Island visited by Singapore divers beside Tioman, although she is not so commercialized compared to the latter, the charm of nature and its environment on this island is irresistible.

The water embraces a deep blue hue, resembling a sparkling blanket of stars as sun shines on its surface. As we proceed beneath the water, more of the mystical nature of the water unfolds itself-- close encounters with Whale sharks and Manta rays, the marine life is filled with many difference species of underwater plants and animals.  Crystal clear water ranging from 5 meters to 50 meters allows the sun’s rays to penetrate deep into the ocean, allowing growth of  the deep reef to attract big pelagic hunting for their prey nearby.  Marline frequently hooked out by the fishermen in the nearby waters thus became a popular fishing spot for the big game enthusiasts.

In the fruit harvesting seasons of August & September, you can even taste the sweet or bitter durians planted by the islanders!  Mango is also another favorite fruit available locally, do give it a try if you come at this time. What better way to unwind after a good dive than to sink in to a juicy, mouth-watering fruit?

We, Leeway Aquatic Paradise situated at the north-western bay of Aur island called Sebukang Bay, directly facing the Peninsula mainland, looking out at the sea from the resort, you could hardly miss any boat coming towards Aur from the far horizon, be it day or night.

Geographically Sebukang Bay itself is not only a sheltered place during the monsoon period, but also transit points for fishers from Aur, Lang & Dayang. Furthermore the ever-changing species of fishes also attract some pelagic.  The environment is sheltered from the current whether it is high or low tide. Reef formations available here are usually from the stag horn family with some big rocks scattered at the shallow end of the water. This not only provides a resting place for the fishes, but also good dive spots for the diver and snorkeller.  Turtle, Cuttle-fish, hump head parrot fish, traveley , barracuda, coral trout, sting ray, yellow tail, bat fish plus many other
